Fiji Islands Hotel and Tourism president Dixon Seeto has applauded governments decision to allow free access to all surf spots in the country.

Seeto says this decision will boost the overall development of the tourism industry.
Surfing areas around the country are now open to anyone who wants to use them under the new Regulation of Surfing Areas Decree. Tourism Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this will allow access to any surfing area in Fiji without payment or compensation, and enhance Fiji’s image as a premier surf travel destination.
All current leases held by resorts or anyone else over the surfing areas is now annulled

The already enchanting view from the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa was that much more spectacular earlier this month (7-12 June), when the top three winners of the “Miss India Pageant 2010“ stayed at the hotel as part of their recent tour of Fiji.

Sofitel’s General Manager Adam Laker was on hand to roll out the red carpet for the winners including Miss India who has automatically qualified to compete in billionaire Donald Trump’s famous Miss World/Universe competition taking place in Las Vegas in late June.
